Chocolate Avocado Mousse

Several years ago I came across a recipe for a raw chocolate mousse created by Chef Susan Teton.  Until that moment, I had only enjoyed avocado in guacamole and salads.  I was not aware how versatile avocados were!

Facebook seems to knows how much I love avocados because I regularly see a promoted post from the Avocados from Mexico. Susan's recipe was quite rich, and there were ingredients used that were quite surprising.  While still use that recipe for special occasions, this streamlined version is perfect when we want a quick after dinner treat.

Raw Chocolate Avocado Mousse

A quick to make treat, just blend and serve.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 Medjool dates (pitted)
  • 2 avocados (pitted and peeled)
  • 1/2 c unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 c maple syrup
  • 1/2 c almond milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch sea salt
  • Pinch chili powder

Instructions

  • Soak dates in warm water for 15 minutes to soften.
  • Drain.
  • Place all the ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
  • Serve and enjoy!
